
Case study: Explaining the benefits of battery storage to homeowners at Aurora Solar
Aurora Solar is a B2B2C solar design and sales software company. Sales Mode, the company's proposal software, was built for solar sales reps, primarily those selling door-to-door, who needed a tool to create thorough proposals for custom solar systems while on the road.
Sales reps had a problem: homeowners weren't getting solar systems, specifically the benefits of investing in battery storage. Homeowners didn't understand why solar panels weren't at work around the clock or why they would keep paying utility bills once their solar system was installed.
Aurora's solution, based on extensive surveys and feedback sessions with customers and internal subject matter experts, was to provide a suite of white-labeled infographics. We chose to pilot this initiative with three of the more complex areas of purchasing a solar system: how to calculate the expected ROI of a solar system; the difference between buying a system in cash versus with a loan; and the benefits of investing in solar. These infographics were white-labeled and customizable, so sales reps could adjust them to meet their specific markets' needs. Aurora's proposals were available as webpages and PDFs, so the infographics were available in both static and animated versions.


We shared these infographics with sales reps iteratively and received immediate positive feedback. Sales reps requested more infographics for topics both simple and complex, showing us that the infographics were impactful and usable.
